    Hey Doc I ordered all those eagle grips and one came with that tag like you got on yours, but the rest were in plastic bags with a simple small white sticker. I was confused too so I called them up. It’s really simple. Snapon bought the rights to the pliers and all the tooling to build them. I asked anything still being sold is old stock? She said yes they still have a few pallets left. So anything we’re buying now will run out soon. Packaging won’t be made anymore either that’s why I got plastic bags. Also the price being liquidation level makes sense too. They prob have a deal with snapon to sell cheap because snapon what’s the brand name off the shelves. So buy them up this won’t last. Love your videos.

    Matco UPR4M is the best clip tool. I try to avoid the trucks but i bought the matco trim tool set and the UPR4M when i started doing body work. I have a bad habit of buying every trim tool i come across. The flat metal ones everyone sells are nice too. I bought one of the snap on ones but ended up having a coworker buy one of the matco i mentioned to trade me. I cant wait to try some vim stuff. Sorry 'bout the adhd rant. Haha

    To all the Sparkies, Electronics Repair, Srvc Techs, etc…..who probably like me; been using Wiha Slim, Klein Flip blade, Knipex, and wera versions of insulated screwdrivers, ratchets, etc….as been out forever compared to Milwaukee releases; which leads me to this query. Does anyone buy the NEW Milwaukee Hand tools: insulated screwdrivers/multi-bit/precision screwdrivers, pliers, ratchet & wrenches, wire strippers, etc….which I’m sure if like me; have quite the collection already from these brands that came before, not cheap money wise; so, now that Milwaukee and others in this space way more prevalent over last 2ish to 5ish years…..do you go out and buy the Pretty New Shiny Tools, which could have features current tools do not, and so on….? If ppl been in trades for few months to several years (3 mos - 2 yrs); or now going on 30 years (man I feel SO YOUNG, lol) here’s my POV when comes to buying any new tool released. I mean any new tool, power tools from miter saws all way down to specialty torque ESD micro screwdrivers.. I keep what I have in my different pouches, bags, boxes (depending on job going to), and as the tools themselves start to wear out or break, this is when I buy new to replace what had, and also allows me to try the newer brands and see how hold up compared to tried and true etc….

    The difference between this ones and the one with the opening in the jaws is that some times when the screw is hard it ends up not beeing able to hold it even though it could theoretically cut it. So having to cut that damn deck screw you end up using your linemans and you dent those and you end up buying a new set of Knipex Linemans and a 250 mm Cobolt with the hole in the jaws.

  • @avernvrey7422

    $100 for the Snap On name? That's cheap! What's going on is a variety of liquidators bought up the old Malcos, ...and the Malcos haven't really been selling very well... So, over the past 2 years, they've been dropping the price from $79 to $59 to $45 to now $35. Snap On can get away with high prices, but a quick flipping resellers have to move product, and the reality is the competition for these type of pliers sells in the $4 - $20 range. And there are some good ones in that range, ie the Craftsman (from China) for $12.

    • @cafecybernz
      @cafecybernz 11 годин тому

      Thank you for that possible explanation. The Amazon store I've just ordered from, JBTools, must be one of those 'liquidators / quick flipping resellers' as you said.

      Well don't complain now, it's too late if everyone was as eager to support Malco before they were forced to shut down or sell we would be able to buy USA made locking pliers at an affordable cost. They are far better made than the cheap Asian made ones.

      @mikereisner3335 7 годин тому

      Snap on did not buy the plant but did buy some of the tooling and patents. A ton of new old stock still exists and is being closed out. The tiny pliers were a Snap on exclusive and only available from them. Harry J. Epstien has them for even less than Amazon.

    Damn these safety knives are so nice compared to the piece of shit I was given at my last job. The lil fucker had a side trigger to unlock the safety cap on the blade which was tolerable even though the button was a terrible location, what made it a pain in the ass is that the cover would spring back up and reset the lock the moment tension was eased off of it. Meaning you needed to time the disengage the moment your about to make a cut. Its a damn shame a pallet dropped on it and I had to use just the blade for the rest of the day.

Based on that description, no one SHOULD buy this, but I assume the listing is cut and pasted from something else. Love the channel Doc. As a subaru shop owner the issue with your headlight bulbs is your not using long life bulbs. Subaru has a TSB about it. we only stock long life bulbs at our shop for this exact reason. Also with a lot of those body clips if you pull the center pin out too far it almost re-locks the clip. There's somewhat a sweet spot where the clips will easily come out.

    The pliers that you described as having limited opening are in fact high leverage. I have high leverage knipex 61 01 200 and would have used them to cut straight through the wire you pulled and twisted about. Yet you put the high leverage cutters / pullers aside and used an in appropriate pair of pinchers.
